Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s body has left London for Daura, Katsina State, where it will be buried today. Here’s what’s happening The body departed London around 6:00 a.m. today, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who was directed by President Bola Tinubu to escort the late leader’s remains.Arrival in Katsina,The body is expected to arrive in Katsina around noon, where President Tinubu will personally receive the remains with full military honors.
After a brief military ceremony at the airport, the body will be transported to Daura for interment. A funeral prayer, known as Jana’iza, will be held, followed by burial at the late President’s residence.Global leaders have sent condolences, and President Tinubu has declared a seven-day national mourning period with flags flying at half-mast. Condolence registers have been opened across government ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as Nigerian embassies and missions abroad.
An Inter-Ministerial Committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has been established to coordinate the funeral activities .
