Veteran comedian Gbenga Adeyinka has voiced his support for President Bola Tinubu, describing him as the right leader to guide Nigeria towards prosperity. Speaking on the Our 2 Kobo Podcast, Adeyinka praised Tinubu’s achievements as Lagos State governor, emphasizing his capacity to address the nation’s economic challenges.

A card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adeyinka revealed that he actively campaigned for Tinubu, believing that if the president cannot resolve Nigeria’s issues, the country may be in deeper trouble due to his vast experience and capabilities.

The comedian lauded some of Tinubu’s policies, such as the removal of fuel subsidies and local government autonomy, but he also urged the government to be more fiscally responsible. Adeyinka called for patience, suggesting that Tinubu should be given at least two more years to tackle Nigeria’s economic problems, which he noted are not unique to the country but part of a global trend.

Reflecting on his previous support for former President Muhammadu Buhari, Adeyinka admitted disappointment, stating that Buhari, despite his military background, “doesn’t know anything.” He argued that the current challenges Nigeria faces require more than just leadership; they necessitate a restructuring of the country’s political system.

Adeyinka concluded by advocating for young leaders like Peter Obi, Fela Durotoye, and Kingsley Moghalu to focus on legislative roles to bring about meaningful change. He emphasized that even if someone like Obi became president under the current system, significant progress would be difficult without structural reforms, adding that Tinubu’s financial expertise deserves time to produce results.
