The GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders are designed to train and support the next generation of leaders in global health, with a specific focus on strengthening health systems and health-related research in Africa. These scholarships are offered by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) for one-year, full-time, face-to-face MSc programs in London for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Scholarship Benefits
Three scholarships are available, each covering:
- Full tuition fees, including mandatory field trip costs.
- A tax-free living stipend of GBP 22,000.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be nationals of and residents in sub-Saharan African countries.
- Intend to return to sub-Saharan Africa upon completing their MSc program.
- Confirm financial need by demonstrating that they cannot afford the program without this funding.
- Meet LSHTM’s minimum English language proficiency standards.
- Hold a first or upper second-class undergraduate degree (or its equivalent).
- Have an offer of admission for one of LSHTM’s London-based intensive MSc programs for 2025-2026.
Preference will be given to candidates who exhibit potential to make significant contributions to public health or health-related research in Africa.
Application Process
Step 1: Apply for Admission
- Submit an application for your desired MSc program via LSHTM’s Admissions Portal.
- Ensure payment of the GBP 50.00 application fee to finalize the submission.
- Applicants are encouraged to complete their program applications 2-3 days before the scholarship deadline to avoid delays.
Step 2: Apply for the Scholarship
- After submitting your program application, you will receive an automated email with a link to the LSHTM Scholarships Portal.
- Search for GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders within the portal and complete all required sections.
- Submit your scholarship application, and you will receive a confirmation email upon submission.
Important Notes:
- Applications must include all required documents. Incomplete submissions or late applications will not be considered.
- Both the program and scholarship applications must be submitted by the scholarship deadline.
- If admitted to an MSc program, applicants must notify the Admissions Team if they are awaiting scholarship decisions. The team will extend the deposit payment deadline to align with the scholarship decision timeline.
Programs Covered
The scholarships apply to any of LSHTM’s non-distance learning intensive MSc programs, except:
- MSc Global Mental Health.
- MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing.
- MSc One Health.
- MSc Veterinary Epidemiology.

Key Dates
- March 5, 2025: Application deadline.
- Week of June 2, 2025: Successful applicants will be notified.
Note: All applications submitted before the deadline will be considered equally. Results will only be processed after the closing date.

The application process has two steps. To be considered for the funding, applicants must meet all eligibility criteria and complete both steps outlined below by the scholarship deadline of 23:59 (GMT) on Wednesday 05 March 2025.
- Step 1: Submit an application for 2025-26 for a London-based MSc programme of study, as per instructions under the ‘How to Apply’ tab on the relevant programme of study page.
- Step 2: This will provide you with a temporary password to use the first time you login (via e-vision), which you should then update.
