Nollywood actress, Ini Edo, petitioned for the ownership right of the movie, the petition was against filmmaker, Chinenye Nworah.
The petition was filed January 2024, by Ini Edo and Minini Empire productions Limited, MEP, against Chinenye Nworah and her production company ‘Giant Creative Media Limited’, GCM, over the trademark of the Netflix series.
The Nigerian Copyright Commission, NCC and the Nigerian Trademark Registry, have ruled against Ini Edo, stating her petition has no ground and lacks substance.
Chinenye Nworah won the legal battle, the lawyer, Olisa Agbakoba said, “the successful defence of these claims highlights the importance of protecting creative works and ensuring fair compensation for artists.”
