Samson Siasia, former Super Eagles player and coach, has officially completed his five-year ban imposed by FIFA over match-fixing allegations. Originally given a lifetime ban, the penalty was reduced by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in 2019.

The ban, effective from August 16, 2019, has now ended, sparking speculation that Siasia may take up a coaching role with Mighty Jets Football Club in Jos.

The case stems from a 2010 incident where a match-fixer attempted to involve Siasia, though the negotiations failed to materialize. CAS acknowledged Siasia’s limited involvement and set aside the CHF 50,000 fine imposed by FIFA.

With an illustrious football career both as a player and a coach, Siasia’s next move is eagerly awaited.
