The Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) is an esteemed scholarship program designed to support future global leaders from eligible countries. This program, which replaces the previous Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS), offers financial support for students admitted to full-time master’s programs at Swedish universities beginning in Autumn 2025. The SISGP is committed to developing professionals who will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and foster positive change in their home countries and regions.
Host Institutions
The SISGP is available for students attending Swedish Higher Education Institutions and Universities across Sweden.
Eligible Programs
Scholarships apply to full-time one- or two-year Master’s programs offered in Sweden. Approximately 700 master’s programs in various fields—including humanities, agricultural science, public health, medicine, natural and social sciences, and technology—are eligible for SISGP support.
Scholarship Benefits
The SISGP scholarship provides:
- Full coverage of tuition fees
- Monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000
- Health and accident insurance
- One-time travel grant of SEK 10,000–15,000 (for students residing outside Sweden at the time of application)
This scholarship is intended exclusively for full-time studies, with no additional financial support for family members and no coverage for the University Admissions application fee.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for SISGP, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries (including Armenia, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, and many more).
- Program Selection: Must apply to one or more master’s programs eligible for SISGP. Over 750 English-taught programs qualify.
- Work and Leadership Experience: Applicants should have work experience and leadership experience, either in a professional role or through civil society engagement. Specific experience requirements may apply depending on the applicant’s region.
- Tuition Liability: Must be required to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities and must complete the admissions process, including paying the application fee by the deadline.
- Other Conditions: Additional eligibility conditions apply for dual citizens, former residents or students in Sweden, and those with prior Swedish Institute scholarships.
Application Process
- Program Application: Apply to a master’s program at universityadmissions.se by 15 January 2025.
- Note: Upon application submission, you will receive a unique eight-digit application number. This number is required for your SISGP application.
- Scholarship Application: After submitting your master’s application, apply for the SISGP scholarship via the online portal, which opens from 10 February to 26 February 2025.
- All required documents must be submitted digitally through the SISGP application portal.
