The Lagos State government has announced plans to generate an estimated N200,000 billion, from remote workers and revenue streams with the digital ecosystem.
This is according to the Eko Revenue Plus Summit. That is expected to hold on the 24th and 25th of September 2024. With the theme ‘Unlocking New Revenue Streams For Lagos State.’
The government said it target, is to raise N5 trillion Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). From four major sectors, including the digital ecosystem.
The document says: “Increasing Lagos State IGR to 5 Trillion Naira in the life of the current administration. Requires a comprehensive and innovative approach that leverages technology, strengthens tax administration, and expands the tax base and explores new revenue stream options, especially in the non-tax areas, while optimizing the existing processes.”
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Lagos has continued to to in IGR, in the past year.
The state generated the highest internal revenue of N651 billion in 2022.
