Police Foil Bomb Explosion In Lagos Hours To Nationwide Protest

Police operatives in Lagos State, on Wednesday, foiled an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in the Ikeja area of Lagos.

It was gathered that a young man in an unregistered white Corolla car. Had come down from the car. And dropped a bag by the fence of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit, along the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way.

Immediately after dropping the bag, he entered the car and zoomed off.

A police officer who saw him, quickly reported the incident to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) base in Ikeja.

Following the report, a team of EOD-CBRN from the base was deployed to the scene. And then, it was discovered to be an IED.

The IED has been taken to a safe distance for detonation, while the area was cleared.

According to a situation report. That was shared by the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin. It says that,

“At about 4:00pm, a police officer reported at EOD-CBRN Base at Ikeja. He said that while he was on his way along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja. He sighted an unregistered white Corolla car that parked on the main road. It was close to the gate of PMF 23 Barracks Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja. And that a young man alighted from the car. And he carefully dropped a bag by the side of the Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit fence. He then returned into the car and zoomed off,”

“Because of this report, a team of EOD-CBRN from the Base was quickly mobilized to the scene to identify the object and render safe distance if confirmed to be IED on arrival.”

“It was discovered to be IED. Subsequently, the area was cleared off. SOP adopted IEA rendered safe and thereafter taken to a a safe distance for detonation accordingly.”

“Meanwhile, the residual of the IED was collected for further analysis and investigation. Area is calm please.”

PALNDO reports that, this development is coming few hours to the start of the Nationwide Protest.
