The executive Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has implored Nigerians to consider the current economic hardship as a trial from God.
While speaking at a town hall meeting in Dutse, on Monday, July 22, Gov Namadi said rather than resorting to nationwide protests, dissatisfied citizens should seek divine intervention from God instead.
The governor expressed regret over the economic hardship and implored the public to view their predicament as “a trial from God”.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, he said: “There are many ways people could express their grievances; people are at liberty to display their grievances through protest under democratic dispensation, but that is not the most effective way to address the problems.”
“The protest alone will not provide the solutions; people should turn to God, repent, seek for forgiveness and divine intervention on the challenges.”
