Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has announced that he will be taking an indefinite leave of absence to focus on pressing medical issues within his immediate family.

In a statement released on September 7, Ngelale explained that the decision was made after extensive consultations with his family in light of a worsening health situation at home. “While I fully understand that the demands of the nation do not pause for anyone, this difficult decision—requiring me to temporarily step back from my duties as the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Official Spokesperson of the President, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen—was made after significant discussions with my family,” Ngelale stated.

He expressed his hope to return to his national duties when circumstances allow, saying, “I look forward to resuming full-time service to the nation when time, healing, and fate permit.”

Ngelale also requested privacy for his family during this challenging period.

Appointed by President Tinubu on July 31, 2023, Ngelale had previously served as an aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari. His role expanded on May 19, 2024, when he was appointed as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action.
