Bond by Covenant Part Two Episode two

Daniel met his friends at the table, drinks in hand, laughter echoing in the room.

“A man must not be ruled by emotions,” Kola said, slapping his knee. “Sometimes, a second wife is God’s solution.”

Daniel nodded stiffly, though his heart shrank. Inside, he knew his pride and love for Esther were under siege. He returned home that night, weary, wrestling silently between what society expected and what his heart demanded.

Esther noticed the heaviness in his eyes. “Are you alright?” she asked softly. Daniel forced a smile, but she could feel the tension between them growing.

Days passed. The Bible gathered dust on the shelf. Evening prayers that once filled the home with warmth now fell silent.

Esther attempted to pray, but Daniel brushed her aside, exhausted and silent. The house, once vibrant with faith, now felt heavy and empty.

Alone in the darkness, Esther whispered, “Lord, return Your fire to our home. Let our hearts speak again in prayer, not fear.”

During a family gathering, an aunt leaned in close.

“This childlessness… where is it coming from?” she asked with a smile, but her eyes were sharp.

All eyes turned to Esther. Daniel said nothing. The unspoken blame pressed down on her chest. She excused herself quietly and wept in the bathroom, feeling the isolation of a love tested by the world.

At church, worship rose in fervor, but Esther could not contain the tears anymore. She collapsed, shoulders shaking, as women rushed to comfort her.

“God sees you,” whispered her friend. But Esther felt unseen, a small soul crushed under the weight of expectations, love, and silence.

Daniel, standing at the back, felt guilt pierce him. He had tried to protect her, but he had failed.

Relatives began visiting unannounced. Advice turned into surveillance.

“What are you cooking today?” they asked innocently, yet their tone implied judgment. Esther felt trapped.

Daniel tried to defend her, but every word seemed to fan the flames of family authority. The home, which should have been their sanctuary, now felt like a courtroom.

Daniel employed a young secretary at work, efficient, cheerful, and respectful. Rumors, as they do, began to spread.

Esther noticed how people now watched Daniel differently. Her heart clenched with a fear she could not name. Late-night texts, polite emails, and small misunderstandings festered like seeds of suspicion.

One night, Daniel’s phone rang after midnight. He stepped outside to answer.

Esther’s mind raced. Who could it be? Anxiety and doubt crept in, whispering fears of betrayal. She whispered a prayer, “Lord, guard our hearts. Let suspicion not destroy what You have joined.”

Every small delay, every unexplained smile, every hurried conversation became evidence in Esther’s mind.

Trust, which once flowed freely, now seemed fragile. She battled silently with doubt, even as she prayed for God’s protection over their marriage.
