In a historic move, President-elect Donald Trump has named his campaign manager, Susie Wiles, as his White House Chief of Staff, making her the first woman to hold this influential role. This appointment is expected to be the first of several key staffing decisions as Trump prepares to return to the White House on January 20.
Trump, who praised Wiles as his “winner campaign manager,” described the appointment as “a well-deserved honor.” He added, “Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and universally admired and respected,” in an announcement posted on X.
Vice President-elect JD Vance shared his support for Wiles’ appointment, noting, “This is great news. Susie was a huge asset to President Trump on the campaign and will be a huge asset in the White House.”
The Chief of Staff position is a critical one in any administration, responsible for overseeing White House operations, managing the president’s schedule, and coordinating between the White House, government departments, and lawmakers.
Reflecting on Wiles’ impact on his campaign, Trump stated that she “just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history.”
Trump’s previous term saw a rotating cast of four Chiefs of Staff, including former Army General John Kelly, who later became an outspoken critic. Kelly had aligned himself with Vice President Kamala Harris, even labeling Trump a “fascist.”
With Wiles as Chief of Staff, Trump’s upcoming term marks a historic milestone and suggests a focused approach to the next chapter in his administration.
