The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Subomi and Wahab Okoya, sons of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, for questioning regarding alleged naira abuse.
This development stems from a promotional video the brothers shared for a new song, which showed a police officer holding wads of N1,000 notes while they danced around him. The footage sparked outrage on social media, with many criticizing the brothers for disrespecting the naira.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) also took action, identifying and detaining the officer involved. According to NPF spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi, the officer’s behavior was “unethical” and disciplinary measures would be taken to uphold the integrity of the police force .
The EFCC’s invitation to the Okoya brothers requires them to appear before the Special Operations Team at the commission’s Lagos office on January 13, 2025.
