The Ekiti State Government has said that it is networking the state and also, building infrastructure to make the state a destination of choice for investors.
The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun. Had said that, the state will be leaving no stone unturned in its bid to revolutionise mechanised agricultural development.
Olatunbosun spoke in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Saturday, September 7th. This was after a two-day tour of completed and ongoing projects of the Biodun Oyebanji administration. By the members of the State Executive Council alongside media executives.
He said, “We take you along to see directly where we are putting the taxpayers’ money. Particularly in the areas of quality and choice of projects we have done. Which have impacted meaningfully on the lives of the people.”
“Apart from trying to revolutionise mechanised agricultural development. We are also trying to ensure that we network Ekiti and turn it into the centre of industrial development. Because this way, Ekiti can be a destination of choice for investors.”
Olatunbosun added that the tour was carried out for the media professionals to communicate what they see on the ground to the populace. So as to dispel possible misconceptions and insinuations and also share insights on the development that led to the policies programmes and projects embarked upon by the administration.
The Commissioner of Works, Sola Adebayo, said the state government had mandated contractors handling its numerous road construction or rehabilitation, across the state to keep to its stone-based policy.
Adebayo warned contractors against compromising regulated standards and quality. He then said that the state government had also ordered the contractors to ensure speedy completion of all projects. Because it is in line with scheduled dates in their letters of award.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr Adebimpe Aderiye, said the administration was not focusing only on infrastructure. But will also on human capital development and empowerment.
Aderiye said that over 2,000 indigent students across the 16 local government areas of the state. Had benefitted from the state government conditional money transfer to assist them in their education.
Completed projects inspected included the Model Smart School in Ijan Ekiti. Renovation of dining hall and construction of therapy room at the Special School in Ido Ekiti.
100-capacity hostel at Command Secondary School, Isan Ekiti. ICT Centre and Catering Department at Government Technical College, Igbara Odo. Renovated classrooms and ICT Centre at Corpus Christi College, Ilawe Ekiti and GRA 3rd Extension Road in Ado Ekiti.
Ongoing projects inspected included Isinbode-Ara-Ikole Road, Ilukuno-Ayegunle Road, Itapa-Omu-Ijelu Road, Ilawe-Ikere Road, Igbara Odo-Ikere Road.
Erekesan Market interior-Ewi Palace Link Road, Ado Ekiti New Town Housing Estate, Ado Ekiti Ring Road Phase One, Indoor Sports Hall and International Centre for Arts and Culture.
Also, the channelization of drainages at Temidayo area in Ilawe Ekiti, renovation of General Hospital in Ijan Ekiti, Faglo-Olorunsogo Road, among others.
