Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Four people has been wiped away by the flood, during a heavy downpour that happened in the community on Thursday, July 18.
The heavy downpour which has been falling since Thursday, to Saturday, has cause heavy downpour which has been reported to has wiped away four people, which included a mother and a child.
Eye witnesses in the community said the incident, had happened in three different places in the town, which has caused fear in the community, as family members has launch a search for the missing people.
According to some eyewitnesses, they said that: “Two people were swept away in Nnewichi, one along Nnobi Road and another along Nnewi-Onitsha Road. The mother and child were returning from a church service that evening when the incident happened.”
“At the moment, family members of the victims have launched a search for their loved ones who have not been seen since Thursday.”
Dr Madu Atueny, the President-General of Nzuko-Ora (Nnewi Town Union), when he was contacted, he said he has not confirmed the incident, but he heard about it.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesman, has said an investigation will be launched to know the development of the incident.
