The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in Big Data Management and Analytics (BDMA) offers scholarships for students to develop expertise in Business Intelligence (BI) and Big Data (BD). This program equips students with the knowledge and skills to analyze vast data collections that support decision-making processes within organizations. Through this scholarship program, participants will study in different European universities, immersing themselves in specialized fields of BI and BD.

Program Overview

The BDMA program is a two-year (120 ECTS) master’s course jointly delivered by:

  • Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium
  • Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain
  • Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), Germany
  • Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e), Netherlands
  • Université François Rabelais Tours (UFRT), France

The program includes foundational coursework in semesters 1 and 2, with an intensive summer school (European Business Intelligence and Big Data Summer School, eBISS). In semester 3, students specialize at one of three partner universities. The fourth semester is devoted to the master’s thesis, culminating in a final event featuring thesis defenses and a graduation ceremony.

Scholarship Benefits

The Erasmus+ program offers scholarships covering:

  • Participation Costs: Up to €9,000 per year.
  • Travel Costs: €2,000 or €3,000 per year, depending on the student’s residence distance from Brussels.
  • Installation Costs: €1,000 for students from Partner Countries.
  • Subsistence Allowance: €1,000 monthly for up to 24 months. This allowance is not provided for periods spent in the student’s country of residence or any Partner Country exceeding three months.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS) in computer science from an accredited institution listed in the World Higher Education Database (WHED) or recognized university rankings (Times Higher Education, QS World University Rankings, or Academic Ranking of World Universities).
  2. Demonstrate English proficiency at a CEFR B2 level through an accepted test (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL).

Application Process

The program’s participation costs are covered directly by the consortium, while other scholarship funds are allocated as follows:

  • Two Annual Instalments: Each covering half of the travel costs.
  • One Installation Allowance: €1,000 for eligible students.
  • 24 Monthly Instalments: €1,000 each for subsistence.

Insurance coverage will be provided in line with Erasmus+ minimum requirements.
