Osun State IRS To Seal Off Tax Defaulters Businesses

The Osun State Internal Revenue Service. Said it would start hunting down on business premises. Who has failed to fulfil their tax obligations to the government.

This is according to a statement shared by the Information Officer of the agency, Oluwaseun Ayeni. On Saturday, August 10. The chairman of OIRS, Mr. Adesola Adewumi. Has said this during an awareness campaign held in Osogbo.

This awareness, is to demand compliance from the business owners. So, the chairman said by Monday, August 12. The government would seal off defaulting business premises.

Adewumi, who was represented at the awareness campaign. Gave all tax defaulting businesses in the state another grace to pay up their dues before the clamp down would begin. 

The OIRS chairman. Who was represented by the Director Legal and Enforcement of the Agency, Mr. Deji Atoyebi. said the statewide enforcement has been long due around May. 

Adewumi said: “The board of OIRS had concluded plans. To begin tax enforcement against defaulters if they continue to fail. In fulfilling their tax obligations to the state government.”

“We therefore advise all tax defaulting businesses in the state. To avoid any inconveniences that may arise during the closure.”

“The businesses have been served with harmonised demand notices. To do the needful before the state would embark on enforcement/closure to bring the defaulters to book.”

“We admonish those who are yet to be served a harmonized demand notice to go to any OIRS tax station nearest to them or visit www.ecg.ng/requestosunbill to request for their own immediately.”

He subsequently advised tax defaulters who have received bills to settle their tax liabilities, to avoid interruptions in their operations.
