Police arraigned two students for hacking MTN computers and catering away with N1.9 Billion.

Timothy Olubukola and Anthony Odemerhonof Moshood Abiola polytechnic and Resign Regal academy, has been arraigned to Court by the police special fraud unit. The two has been alleged of hacking into MTN Plc’s computer and stealing airtime and data valued around N1.9 Billion.

The two defendants are facing several counts bordering on; conspiracy, unlawful conversion and unauthorized access.

According to the prosecutor the offences committed contravened Sections 27(1)(b); 6(2) and 28(1)(b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015 as amended in 2024, but punishable under Section 8(2) of the same Act.

He added that the offences also contravened Section 18(2)(b) of the Money Laundering (Prevention And Prohibition) Act, 2022, punishable under Section 18(3) of the same Act.

The defendants pleaded, not guilty. The persecutor pleaded with the court that they should be remanded in a correctional facility still the date of their trial.

The court hereby adjourn still August 5, for the hearing of the defendants’s bail application
