The Nigerian presidency has clarified that a yacht spotted in St-Tropez, France, and rumored to be a government vessel, actually belongs to a private individual.
Otega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Digital and New Media, addressed the viral claims on social media through a post on X. He confirmed that the yacht, a 42-meter Bennetti, has been privately owned for approximately five years and has no ties to the Nigerian government or military.
Ogra pointed out that the yacht’s flag, which features a coat of arms, is not representative of official Nigerian flags. He emphasized that the Nigerian flag is Green-White-Green without any coat of arms, and any flag with such an emblem does not correspond to official government or military usage.
Ogra reassured that the yacht’s appearance in St-Tropez and its flag do not signify any government association.
