The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has launched a new initiative to give candidates an opportunity to resit their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers. This resit option will begin as early as January and February 2025.
John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, announced the development during an appearance on JoyNews’ AM Show in Ghana. He explained that the initiative is aimed at providing a faster alternative for candidates who wish to improve their performance in specific subjects.
“Students who access their results and realize they need to resit one or two papers have until 8th January to register. This can be done online via our website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafes,” Kapi stated.
The exams are scheduled to take place between 24th January and 15th February 2025. This marks a significant change in WAEC’s policies, allowing students to address deficiencies in their results without waiting an entire year for the next examination cycle.
